It is time for the dedication and work of neonatal nurses to be acknowledged via the annual ACNN Neonatal Nurse Excellence Award.
Excellence in Neonatal Nursing Award: To nominate a colleague you must be a financial member of ACNN and complete the Excellence in Neonatal Nursing Award nomination form and submit by email. The winner in this category must be a neonatal nurse currently working within the area of neonatal nursing and an ACNN member.

Family Appreciation Award: To nominate a neonatal nurse please complete the Family Appreciation Award nomination form and submit by email. ACNN will recognise all nominations, however the winner of this category must be a neonatal nurse currently working within the area of neonatal nursing and an ACNN member.

In 2017 in addition to the Excellence in Neonatal Nursing award, ACNN will introduce the Family Appreciation Award. This latter award is open to families to nominate a neonatal nurse.
Excellence in Neonatal Nursing Award: Neonatal nurses may nominate their peers who are working in any area of neonatal nursing (e.g. public, private, management, education, clinical area and the tertiary sector) who exemplifies the ACNN National Standards for Neonatal Nurses.
Nominated neonatal nurses will have made a substantial contribution to neonatal nursing in one or more of the following areas:
- Clinical practice through the provision of an excellent standard of practice and professionalism and commitment to safe, high quality care, which is evidenced based and family centred. The neonatal nurse provides leadership, advocacy, is an excellent role model and contributes to the standards of nursing practice by promoting continuous improvement and family centred care.
- Education through leadership and/or participated in scholarly and/or educative activities which contribute to a learning culture and who is recognised as an excellent role model to fellow neonatal nurses. The neonatal nurse in this category has influenced practice change and/or policy reform through education.
- Clinical research. The neonatal nurse in this category will have demonstrated commitment to improving the quality of health care through quality improvement and/or clinical research; fostered and supported clinical research for the profession of neonatal nursing. The neonatal nurse in this category has influenced practice change and/or policy reform through research.
Family Appreciation Award: Nominated neonatal nurses will have demonstrated excellence in the provision of support and care to infants and their families.
This category is open to families to acknowledge and recognise neonatal nurses who they feel have demonstrated outstanding care and support. The Family Appreciation Award provides an opportunity for a neonatal nurse to be recognised for the difference they have made to a family and their infant while in the neonatal unit.
