There are 18 hospitals and community campuses and two aged care facilities and the main hospital is the only tertiary hospital in North Queensland. The Townsville Hospital and Health Service Neonatal team is invested in the community and the service it offers as the unit covers the needs of sick babies for the whole of North Queensland. The Neonatal Unit comprises 25 Special Care Nursery cots and 16 Neonatal Intensive Care cots, with professional support from 4 Neonatal Consultants, 1 Senior Registrar, 3 Registered Medical doctors, 4 Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and over 100 part-time and full-time nursing staff.

The Townsville Neonatal Unit is the only level 6 neonatal unit in North Queensland.

We are currently recruiting for a permanent Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
