You will provide the pivotal leadership and coordination of patient care delivery within the Special Care Nursery at the Lyell McEwin Hospital. The main focus of your role will be the line management, coordination and leadership of nursing and midwifery care to achieve continuity and quality of client care. Undertaking a combination of client care, team leadership and resource management, you will coordinate the Special Care Nursery’s Quality & Safety Programs to meet service and accreditation standards.

As the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager, you will provide a direct line report and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships within all members of the SCN team. Accountable for the outcomes of nursing and midwifery practice, you will address inconsistencies between practice and policy and develop team performance and a positive workplace culture in the interest of client outcomes.

The Lyell McEwin Hospital is regarded as one of the leading maternity hospitals in South Australia, and provides world class obstetric and midwifery care for both low and high risk pregnant women. The LMH is also one of the few hospitals in the State to be an accredited Baby Friendly Hospital. The services provided by the Women’s and Children’s Division are innovative and exciting, providing woman centred care from the acute care episode through to care in the home.

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse and/or Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. Demonstrating specific academic training in Neonatal Intensive Care or Neonatology, you will possess effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.
