Clinical Nurse Facilitator Practice Development

Newborn Care Unit, Maternity Practice Development Team, Women’s, Newborn and Children’s Services, Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service.

The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Nurse Facilitator (Practice Development) to join Gold Coast Health where the focus of our 10 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to over 550,000 people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region.

You will take responsibility for

  • Practicing to full scope as per the defined practice standards for registered nurses set out by the NMBA and registered with AHPRA
  • A specific consumer population, and can function in more complex clinical situations while providing support and direction to Registered Nurse/Enrolled Nurse and other non-registered nursing personnel
  • Participating in educational programmes and specifically attends teaching identified to meet Clinical Nurse development aims and objectives such as leadership/managerial courses
  • Facilitating the unit specific preceptors to promote a learning environment within the clinical setting
  • Supporting new staff to the specific unit in development of key skills required for the specific in-patient area
  • Responding to the educational needs of all members of the multidisciplinary team including students and novice members by imparting knowledge of the treatment and nursing care and development of specialist nursing skills for patients requiring care

Requirements for the role

  • It is a condition of employment in this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough) and hepatitis B
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • A Bachelor of Nursing or Midwifery or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position
  • A minimum of a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma within a relevant specialty area is highly desirable
  • This position requires effective computer skills or the ability to acquire computer skills relevant to the role in a short timeframe

Salary information

  • Flexible part time (up to 3 years)
  • Base salary ranging from $46.51 - $49.81 p.h.
  • Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading

About Maternity Practice Development Team

The Women’s and Newborn Services Education Team provide educational support for Midwives and Nurses within the Women’s, Newborn and Children’s Services Division. The Neonatal team consists of a Neonatal Educator and Clinical Nurse Facilitators (Practice Development) covering the neonatal intensive care service, special care service, infant feeding support, neonatal resuscitation and neonatal emergency management training.

The Newborn Care Clinical Nurse Facilitator (Practice Development) is an advocate for and partner to supporting ongoing education and practice development in newborn care services

We aim to provide effective orientation, support professional development and support ongoing clinical skill development of all our midwives and nurses in the Newborn Care Unit. We also actively participate in interprofessional learning with medical staff, allied health and agencies supporting women and families.
