Nurse Educator (Newborn Care)

Location: Southport
Remuneration: $128 701 - $139 732 per annum + 12.75% super

The Role
An opportunity has become available for a Nurse Educator (Newborn Care) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Lead and support a culture of ongoing learning and workforce development
  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate learning and development activities to meet identified individual and team learning needs
  • Facilitate the role development of others by succession planning, role modelling behaviour, provision of career advice and mentoring
  • Participate in educational and professional nursing networks, work groups and organisations

About you
To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is mandatory for this position
  • Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
  • A Masters or higher qualification within a relevant area is highly desirable
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

  • Base salary ranging from $128 701 - $139 732 per annum + 12.75% super

About Us
The Newborn Care Unit (NCU) at Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) is currently funded to operate 12 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit cots and 24 Special Care Nursery cots. All babies are cared for in single family rooms. GCUH delivers 5500 babies per year with a similar number of births at the NCU referral units around the Gold Coast and Northern New South Wales.

The NCU functions at Level 6 in the Clinical Service Capability Framework for Neonatal Services Queensland. Infants born at all viable gestational ages are admitted with onsite support which includes a paediatric ophthalmologist, paediatric/neonatal surgeons, a paediatric cardiologist, and paediatric radiologists. Based in Southport.
