Privacy and Research Statement
ACNN places great emphasis on maintaining and enhancing the privacy and security of personal information and only collects and uses this
information to provide member services. No individual information is disclosed unless the individual concerned has given written consent
for us to do so or if disclosure is required under law. All information is securely stored and access is limited to committee members and
the executive support officer who require access to carry out the work of ACNN.
In very limited circumstances email addresses of members may be provided to an affiliated organisation for the purpose of distribution of
neonatal nursing and member relevant information, such as to the Council of International Neonatal Nurses (COINN). In these circumstances
we ensure that a strict confidentiality agreement is in place prior to handing over such information. Under no circumstances would ACNN
“sell on” our membership list to any outside organisation. We make every effort to ensure that the integrity of our membership
database is maintained.
The National Privacy Principles (NNPS) guide our policy and practices.
ACNN member participation in research
In keeping with the ACNN vision and mission statement in the promotion of excellence in the care of neonates and to enhance the quality of clinical practice and research; the ACNN promotes and facilitates research related to neonatal care.
When the ACNN executive receives a request from researchers to access ACNN members to participate in research, the executive assesses each research project on an individual basis. Should ACNN agree to a research request, ACNN will either distribute the information and invitation to members or formalise an agreement with the researcher regarding the privacy and use of member details for the purpose of distributing research invitations.
Member participation in research is voluntary. Should a member NOT wish to be sent information or invitations to participate in research, please notify the secretary at thesecretary@acnn.org.au
