NNPs have advanced neonatal nursing skills. They fulfil the requirements of an approved Nurse Practitioner Master’s program and are endorsed as such by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). The role includes assessment and management of neonates using advanced knowledge and requisite skills appropriate for the setting in which the NNP works. The NNP utilises this expertise to ensure accurate and high-quality clinical care delivery for the neonate and his/her family.

The broad aims of the NNP SIG are to support professional growth of the role within the Australian context, as well as provide mentorship and development support to clinicians wishing to pursue this professional pathway.

For more information on the SIG download our factsheet or access member only information in the member's area.
