Nutrition & Feeding Sig

The purpose and focus of the Nutrition & Feeding SIG is to provide consistent and reliable information to neonatal nurses in supporting nutrition and feeding in neonatal unit environments to optimise feeding outcomes. Additionally, the SIG provides expert advice to the National Executive on nutrition and feeding related matters.

Nutrition & feeding is an important part of the experience of families whose infant requires admission to a neonatal unit. Successful establishment of feeding is affected by various factors, such as, prematurity, neurological impairment, congenital abnormalities, surgery or maternal conditions and choices. Neonatal nurses and neonatal lactation consultants provide care and education that optimises feeding outcomes. The SIG is available to recommend resources relating to nutrition & feeding, provides learning opportunities, peer support and guidance. Download our information flyer.

Keep up to date on activities and events via our quarterly newsletter or news and events pages. For members, access member only information in the members area (member log in required).
