The Queensland Branch of ACNN has over 300 members from a mix of regional, rural and metropolitan, public and private neonatal and midwifery services across Queensland.
The Queensland Branch promotes high standards of neonatal nursing by:
- Supporting the professional development of Queensland nurses with an interest in neonatal nursing care, research, leadership and management;
- Providing leadership in clinical care;
- Promoting neonatal nursing to the wider health care community and the public;
- Contributing to statewide healthcare policy;
- Providing a local link for members to the ACNN National Executive;
- Providing a forum for networking with national and international professional bodies, associations and health practitioners.
How we achieve our aims
- Committee meetings every month via ZOOM
- Promotion and support of neonatal awareness campaigns including International Neonatal Nurses Day (15 August) and Light it Purple, World Prematurity Day (17 November)
- Represent Qld members at National Executive meetings
- Provide financial support for members to attend conferences / workshops / professional development
- Workshops and seminars held in metropolitan and regional centres, as well as on-line
- Support the growth of neonatal nurses by encouraging participation in the committee
Accomplishments
- Is the largest State Branch membership group
- Strong presence on the ACNN National Executive and in ACNN Special Interest Groups
- Consistently provides and supports members to attend professional development opportunities
