Infant Feeding Sig

This new Special Interest Group commenced operation in September 2020.

Focus and purpose

Infant feeding is an important part of the experience of families whose infant requires admission to a neonatal unit. Successful establishment of feeding is affected by various factors, such as maternal conditions, prematurity, neurological impairment, congenital abnormalities, or surgery. Neonatal nurses and neonatal lactation consultants can provide care and education that optimise feeding outcomes. This SIG would provide expert advice on aspects relating to infant feeding, recommend resources, present learning opportunities and advise on compliance with international standards on breastfeeding.
