Presenter: Nicole Allen, ANMF Acting Assistant Secretary

Bio: Nicole trained at St Vincent's hospital in the late 1980's and has worked in the private and public sector.  Initially drawn to medial nursing with a passion for oncology and palliative care. 'It was and always will be a privilege to share a journey with a patient and their family at a time that is so pivotal and precious'. Nicole completed post graduate midwifery studies in 2002 and worked at Dandenong Hospital and then in the initial cohort of midwives at Casey Hospital in 2005 . Joining the ANMF (Vic Branch ) in 2009 as an Organiser, the last seven years Nicole has worked in the statewide role of ANMF Maternity Services Officer. 'It is the ANMF's role to advocate on their behalf for employment conditions that recruit and retain, and for access to public healthcare that is safe, has robust clinical governance and ensures the ongoing strength of the professions through striving for top-of-scope of practice. Wherever nursing or midwifery is being discussed, there should always be a nurse or midwife at the table.'
