Synopsis: This presentation discusses the journey from concept to embedded practice of multidisciplinary Neurodevelopmental Care Rounds in the Neonatal Unit in Toowoomba, a regional Queensland hospital. This presentation is led by the allied health team of Physiotherapist and Speech Pathologist, discussing the whole-team approach to successful care round implementation.

Hannah Bouttell, BPhty, Grad Cert Physiotherapy (Paediatrics)
Hannah is a senior paediatric physiotherapist with 15 years’ experience working in the neonatal setting. Hannah currently works in the Toowoomba Hospital Neonatal Unit as well as in outpatient allied health follow up clinics for babies who are high risk of adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes. Hannah provides evidence-based physiotherapy care and assessment as well as developmental education and support to families. Hannah has completed various neurodevelopmental and neonatal care focussed training opportunities including FINE Level 1, the Sensory Beginnings Masterclass along with physiotherapy specific courses.

Shaun Coutts, BSpPath, NDC Accredited Practitioner
Shaun is an Advanced Speech Pathologist (Paediatrics) at Toowoomba Hospital in Queensland, Australia. She supports babies and families in the Neonatal Unit with feeding assessment and management, along with supporting early feeding and development in the hospital outpatient setting. Shaun has completed training to become a Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC) Accredited Practitioner and has also completed FINE Level 1 training. Shaun is passionate about providing supportive, family-centred developmental care for infants and their caregivers, considering evidence-based approaches and caregiver advocacy and empowerment.
