Presentation Title: Beyond One Cuddle: Creating More Opportunities for Skin-to-Skin Care in the NICU
Presentation Summary: Beyond One Cuddle explores a multidisciplinary quality improvement initiative aimed at increasing
opportunities for skin-to-skin care for babies and families in the NICU. This presentation will share the practical lessons, challenges,
and successes of implementing change in a busy clinical environment, including insights into culture change, family engagement, and
strategies to support frequent skin-to-skin cuddles.
Presenters:
Natalie Vasquez is a Senior Occupational Therapist at Liverpool Hospital with over 14 years of experience in paediatric
healthcare and a specialised clinical focus in neonatal intensive care. She is passionate about infant behaviour and regulation and
fostering early parent-infant relationships that support optimal neurodevelopmental outcomes for infants in the NICU. Natalie enjoys
collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to translate evidence into practice and has a particular interest in quality improvement
initiatives that support family-centred care and enhance the NICU experience for infants and their families.
Priscilla Mosca is a Registered Nurse, Midwife and International Board Certified Lactation
Consultant (IBCLC) with 14 years of experience in Neonatal Intensive Care. She is currently the Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS2)
for Lactation Services at Liverpool Hospital. Priscilla is dedicated to promoting family-centred care and enabling parents to play an
active role in their baby's care and development. She is a passionate advocate for breastfeeding, human milk feeding, and the benefits of
skin-to-skin care, recognising their vital role in supporting infant health, parental confidence, and family bonding. Through education,
guidance, and compassionate support, she works collaboratively with families and healthcare teams to achieve the best possible outcomes for
babies and their families.
Georgia Stillanesis is a Senior Physiotherapist at Liverpool Hospital, working across Paediatric Outpatients
and the NICU. She is passionate about providing family-centred care and ensuring children and families feel supported throughout their
healthcare journey. Her interests includ early intervention, advocacy, and improving access to meaningful and practical support for
children and their families.
