Dr. Michelle Paliwoda is a Lecturer in Nursing at the University of Tasmania, recognised for her expertise in postgraduate education, curriculum leadership, and nursing research. As an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia (HERDSA), she is committed to advancing teaching excellence, promoting evidence-informed educational practices, and enhancing student success across higher education settings.

Dr Paliwoda has extensive experience leading the design, delivery, and evaluation of contemporary nursing curricula. In her role as Unit Coordinator, she provides academic leadership across teaching teams, develops innovative and research-informed learning experiences, and ensures alignment with accreditation standards, professional competencies, and evolving healthcare priorities. Her educational philosophy combines clinical expertise with critical inquiry and reflective practice, equipping graduates with the knowledge, skills, and confidence required for advanced nursing practice. 

An active researcher and scholar, Dr Paliwoda is dedicated to advancing nursing practice, improving patient outcomes, and enhancing the quality of higher education. Her research interests include bioethics, neonatal nursing, neonatal early warning tools, clinical deterioration, the development of biophysical reference ranges, and student engagement with online learning platforms and digital learning environments. Her work explores strategies to improve learner participation, engagement, and educational outcomes within contemporary technology-enhanced learning environments.

Dr Paliwoda has presented her research at national and international conferences, disseminating findings that contribute to improvements in clinical practice, healthcare education, and student learning. She is actively involved in research collaboration, scholarly publication, peer review, and academic mentoring, supporting the translation of evidence into practice and fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals and researchers.

Her academic qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master of Bioethics, Master of Health Science (Clinical Practice), Master of Midwifery, Graduate Certificate in Health Service Management (Safety and Quality), Graduate Diploma of Midwifery, Bachelor of Nursing (Honours First Class), and Bachelor of Nursing.

Through her combined strengths in educational leadership, curriculum innovation, and research, Dr Paliwoda is committed to excellence in nursing education and the advancement of healthcare outcomes. Her work focuses on developing future nursing professionals, supporting educator excellence, and generating evidence that informs both clinical practice and contemporary approaches to higher education.
